Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant | Orthopedics | Days
Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital + Templin Medical Center
Status: Full-Time | Days
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am - 4pm
Weekends: Once every 6 weeks
Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health Wyandotte Hospital is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedic Surgery team. This role provides comprehensive orthopedic care across ambulatory and inpatient settings, with responsibilities including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first-line provider. The APP will independently evaluate patients, review and interpret imaging, order durable medical equipment (DME), perform splinting and casting, and coordinate referrals to other providers within the department as needed. In the inpatient setting, responsibilities include daily rounding, hospital and ER consultations, and managing discharges, with clinic and inpatient management occurring during daytime hours. The APP will work collaboratively with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure safe and efficient patient outcomes. Weekend inpatient coverage will be provided on a rotating basis with other team members, with potential opportunities for OR first assist based on operational needs and scheduling. Preference will be given to candidates with 1–2 years of Emergency Room, Urgent Care, or orthopedic experience.

Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years experience in ER, urgent care, or orthopedics as an APP.
- NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
- Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure
- National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
- BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)
Credentials:
Education & Training
- Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
Licensure
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).
Certification
- PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)
DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure
- PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
- NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
